You miss the point: Ukraine is an economic basket case. They are depopulated, their infrastructure is destroyed, and the only thing that is keeping them afloat is Western aide. I'm not telling Ukraine to give up - I am urging Western nations not to support them. What I am pointing to is the gigantic financial cost to Western nations, just to enable the Ukrainian govt to sacrifice another hundred or two hundred thousand soldiers for nothing.
